1969 Baseball Stamps - All the Rest

Here are the rest of my 1969 baseball stamps (well, except for the Padres' Larry Stahl, but he didn't fit into one of the group rectangles!) I got all these in 1969, and they've been sitting in glassine envelopes ever since.

I have no idea who I'm missing (except for the Phillies' Tony Taylor). It's weird that I have no stamps from the 2-time NL champion Cardinals, nor the Yankees, Reds, Dodgers, Braves, Red Sox, Orioles, Angels, Astros, Expos, Royals, or Pilots.

That's a nice looking collection of stamps. I see that Topps recycled some of the Cubs photos from the '67 and '68 base set; Banks, Beckert, and Phillips are all reused. Any idea if that is true with many others?

Also, look closely at the Billy Williams stamp. He's batting right-handed. At first I thought the negative was flipped, but the C on his hat is correct. So was Billy playing games with the photographer?

WW,

Besides the Cubs that you mentioned, Topps reused the 1967 card photos of Willie Stargell, Ron Swoboda, Bob Allison, and John Odom.

The stamp photos of Art Shamsky, Dennis Higins, Hal Lanier, Zoilo Versailles, and Cesar Tovar also look familiar. Maybe they were their '68 or '69 card photos.

Notice that Jim Northrup's name is misspelled.

Thanks for the update, and RIP Jim Northrup...and in a weird bit of irony, the verification word that came up for this comment was "coffen"

I didn't realize Northrup had passed away until about an hour after I posted the above comment. I also saw that Jose Pagan died the day before Northrup.

This seems like as good a time as any to mention that about 2 weeks ago, I added a gallery of departed 1960s stars on the sidebar of my 1960s baseball blog.

I remember collecting these in '69 as a 9 year old....there was a booklet you could get that had places for the stickers.

Regarding Northrup - I took some photos of Jim Northrup field at Alma College in Alma, MI, while at a tournament shortly after his death. Just seconds after taking my first photo of Jim Northrup scoreboard there was a massive lightening strike. On the scramble back to the car I ran into a guy that was a close friend and former college teammate and had a long conversation. Photos are here 16u tournament at Alma

Wow, I just noticed that the photo of Dave Duncan is so old, that he's wearing a pre-1964 black-and-white Athletics' uniform!
